“There is no other place like Halkidiki”.That’s a common saying among Greeks as Halkidiki comprises a load of advantages and beauties.
It is full of small coves or infinite sandy beaches, with turquoise waters most of them awarded with blue flags for their clearness. An enticing place with lavishly green areas, full of olive trees and huge pine trees that stretch their branches touching the sea.
The location of Olea Mare , in Kalives, just between the first and second peninsula of Halkidiki renders it particularly privileged with easy access to the most exquisite beaches as well as to places of historic or other interest.
The ancient town of Olinthos, where one of the most beautiful ancient mosaic inlays has been discovered, Stagira the birthplace of Aristotle, the philosopher and the prehistoric cave of Petralona are all just a stone’s throw away. Mount Athos (The Holy Mountain) with its uniqueness, it’s a monk community with old monasteries hiding real treasures of the past, is one more attraction.
Modern towns like Poligiros, the mountainous capital of Halkidiki ,with the green forest of Holomontas, as well as the town of Nea Moudania with a blooming market are close at hand. In addition to this Thessaloniki (65km), the second largest city in Greece with plenty of sights and modern shops and shopping centers and the international airport “Makedonia” are just an hour’s distance away.
